Bhumana Alleges Serious Lapses in TTD Accommodation Booking System
Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has alleged that serious irregularities have surfaced in the TTD accommodation booking system. He claimed that TTD rooms are being listed not only on private websites but also on the Agoda app, raising concerns over the security and transparency of the booking process. To support his allegations, he also released video evidence.
TTD Rooms Allegedly Sold at Inflated Prices
According to Bhumana, accommodation rooms that are officially allotted by TTD for around ₹1,000 are allegedly being offered on private booking platforms for as much as ₹18,000. He stated that rooms belonging to Aditya Birla Guest House, Panchajanyam Guest House, and Vakulamatha Guest House were found listed on the Agoda platform. He demanded an immediate response from TTD, saying such practices are exploiting devotees in the name of accommodation services.
Criticism Over Failure to Curb Fake Websites and Apps
Bhumana accused the TTD administration of attacking those who expose irregularities instead of correcting the flaws in the system. He alleged that TTD Vigilance has completely failed to prevent fake booking websites and mobile applications, despite devotees falling victim to online fraud.
He recalled that during his tenure as TTD Chairman, complaints were filed against 48 fake websites, leading to their closure. He questioned why similar strict action is not being taken against fake booking platforms now.
Calls for Strong Action to Protect Devotees
Expressing concern over the financial losses suffered by devotees, Bhumana questioned why the TTD administration has not taken stringent measures against fake booking apps. He urged the temple administration to prioritize monitoring and eliminating fraudulent online booking platforms to safeguard pilgrims.
Bhumana Responds to Navaneethamma Controversy
Bhumana also commented on the Navaneethamma issue, stating that providing darshan to an elderly woman should not be considered a mistake. He questioned the basis on which the government concluded that she had not undertaken the foot pilgrimage.
He said both the Chief Minister and the TTD Chairman made public statements without verifying all the facts and insisted that conclusions should not be drawn prematurely.
Demands Release of CCTV Footage
Alleging that the Navaneethamma issue is being used for political propaganda, Bhumana claimed that the statements made by the Chief Minister and the TTD Chairman contain contradictory information. He demanded that the CCTV footage related to the incident be released immediately to establish the facts and ensure transparency.
