Various Groups Continue to Approach Jagan Over Their Grievances
People from different sections of society who believe they have been adversely affected by the administrative policies of the Andhra Pradesh Coalition Government have increasingly been approaching Leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to present their grievances.
Over the past two years, Amaravati farmers, aqua farmers, Mamillapalli farmers, Karedu farmers, DSC job aspirants, Bhavanipuram flat victims, Sugali Preethi’s mother Parvathi, and several other affected groups have met Jagan to explain the issues they are facing.
Teachers’ Union Leaders Submit Memorandum to Jagan
In the latest development, leaders of various teachers’ unions met YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and submitted a memorandum highlighting the challenges faced by teachers. The meeting has gained political significance in Andhra Pradesh.
The union leaders alleged that although the coalition government had promised to safeguard the interests of government employees during the election campaign, it has failed to address their concerns after coming to power.
Teachers Oppose Mandatory TET for In-Service Staff
One of the key issues raised during the meeting was the proposal to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) once again for teachers who are already in service.
The union representatives argued that it is unfair to ask teachers who completed their B.Ed., secured employment, and have served in the education system for nearly 25 years to appear for the TET again. They stated that such a requirement places an unnecessary burden on experienced educators.
Demand for Amendment to the Right to Education Act
The teachers’ unions requested that necessary amendments be made to the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act to resolve the issue. They urged that the Central Government be persuaded to introduce the required changes so that in-service teachers are exempted from taking the TET again.
Jagan Assures Support Through YSRCP MPs
Responding to the representations, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy assured the delegation that the issue would be taken up with the Central Government through the YSRCP Members of Parliament.
He said the party’s MPs would meet Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and explain the concerns raised by the teachers. Jagan expressed hope that the Centre would consider the matter and take appropriate steps to address the issue.
