Allegations Over Prime Plot Allocations in Amaravati Capital Region
The people of Andhra Pradesh are talking about the CRDA plots in Amaravati. This time it is because of a political controversy. The farmers who live in the Amaravati capital region are saying that the friends of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and some important leaders of the Telugu Desam Party got commercial plots in very good locations.
The issue became even bigger when it was reported that the family members of Andhra Jyothy Managing Director Vemuri Radhakrishna got plots in important areas of Amaravati.
Prime Locations Allegedly Allotted to Radhakrishna’s Family
The farmers of Amaravati are saying that Vemuri Aditya and Vemuri Anusha, who are the son and daughter of Vemuri Radhakrishna gave up around 5.39 acres of land in the Neerukonda region to CRDA. In return they allegedly got:
- Two residential plots of 1,500 yards each near the West Bypass Road
- Two more plots of 1,000 yards each
- Two commercial plots measuring 660 yards each at a four-road junction opposite SRM University
These plots are in very good locations and this is why there is a big debate about it now.
Why Are Farmers Angry?
The government says that the plots were given out through a lottery system.. Many farmers are not happy with this. They think the process was not fair.
The farmers say that:
- People who gave up their land got plots in areas that’re prone to flooding or are not very valuable
- Important people and those connected to politicians got plots on roads and in good commercial areas
Many farmers are asking if the lottery system was really fair or if it was fixed to help important people.
Allegations of Preference to the CM’s Inner Circle
The controversy is getting bigger. Other important people are also being mentioned in the allegations. It is said that family members of leaders like Bejawada Ramesh and Dhanekula Subbarao got plots near the Chief Minister’s residence and the Secretariat region.
The farmers of the capital region say that only people who are close to the Chief Minister got the locations in Amaravati.
Promises Made During Land Pooling
When the government was taking land from farmers for the Amaravati project they promised to give them something in return.
For the lands the farmers were promised:
- A 1,000 square yard residential plot
- A 450 square yard plot
For the dry lands the farmers were promised:
- A 1,000 square yard residential plot
- A 250 yard commercial plot
Now the farmers are saying that even though they got plots of the promised size, the location and value of the plots are not good.
Political Heat Intensifies Over CRDA Lottery Transparency
The issue of CRDA plot allocation is becoming a political issue in Andhra Pradesh. The farmers and the opposition are asking the government to release all the details of the lottery process and explain how the best locations were given out.
People are asking:
- If the lottery system was really transparent
- If important people got treatment
- If ordinary farmers were treated unfairly
The controversy is going to get bigger as more details come out about the Amaravati capital region allocations.
Was the Lottery Transparent or a Jackpot for the Powerful?
The Amaravati CRDA plot allocation controversy is an issue in Andhra Pradesh politics now. The allegations that important people and those close to the government got the plots have created a lot of tension.
